The Mountains are calling

Step out into the breath taking scenery of South Africa's Mountain landscapes from the iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town to the highest peaks of the Drakensburg.

South Africa is called the 'the rainbow nation of God' and this sentiment echo's the diversity of people, landscapes and animals. The Mountains across South Africa are known for their impressive size, beauty and intricate bio-diversity. Hikers and Mountaineers alike travel from across the world to test themselves and experience the majesty of Gods creation.

The three main mountainous regions in South Africa are the Western Cape, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape due to the formation of the Cape Fold Mountains, which formed around 280-235 million years ago from the clash of continents which resulted in the formation of Pangea.

The Western Cape has by far the most Mountains with approximately 28 different mountains. However the highest peak is in the Drakensberg (Our personal Favourite) - Mafadi which is 3,450 metres (11,320 ft), found in the Kwa-Zulu Natal region the border with Lesotho.

But the great news is that almost all of the 9 provinces have Mountains, so if your up for some adventure or just want to wake up with a breath taking view, then check out all the cool Mountain experiences we have mapped out for you.
