Transfer from Johannesburg to Barra, Mozambique
Day one involves a transfer from Johannesburg through to Barra beach in Mozambique. Upon arrival you will be greeted by your tour guide, followed by a check in at the lodge to simply relax and acclimatise. Later that evening join the other guest for a sumptuous traditional Mozambican meal and watch the nights entertainment.
Explore Barra | Ocean Safari
Day two is yours to explore the incredible sights and sounds of Barra. For the more adventurous, you have the option to head out on the Ocean Safari in search of the local whale shark population, not to mention the giant manta rays, turtles and bright colourful fish that inhabit the local reefs – a truly rewarding encounter.
Head back to the lodge for some R&R before another festive evening meal.
On day three head out into Barra and explore the culture of the Mozambican people. Visit the market stalls, relax at the beach or sign up for one of the many activities available like quad biking, snorkelling or kayaking.
Inhambane and Vilanculos
Day four starts with a hearty breakfast before heading out on a tour of the Inhambane town to explore the rich diversity in culture and architecture in the region. From there we head through to the stunning town of Vilanculos for some snorkelling over the colourful reefs of the Bazaruto archipelago, before checking in at the hotel for the nights accommodation.
Bazaruto Marine Excursion
Day five kicks off with one of the main highlights of the tour. After breakfast board a tour boat for an exploration of Bazaruto Island, within the Bazaruto national park. This pristine marine reserve is home to thousands of marine species of fish, rays and mammals – all clearly seen through the crystal clear waters swimming elegantly below.
We stop on one of the Islands where you will get the opportunity to snorkel along the reefs and explore the underwater wonderland of this incredible marine sanctuary. After the day on and in the water we head back fo another relaxing evening and meal at the hotel.
Explore Praia de Chizavane (Xai Xai)
Day six starts with a transfer after breakfast from the hotel, through to Xai Xai 40kms away. The beaches here are a veritable paradise, with over hanging palm tree’s and soft rolling surf to spend the day swimming and relaxing in.
For those intent on a more festive experience, head out along the town to the many beach bars to enjoy the local drink – the RnR – A Rum and Raspberry cocktail, famous all over Mozambique.
The evenings accommodation is a luxurious combination of beach and lodge, set in a right on the beach front.
Trasfer through to Kruger National Park
Day 7 starts early with a transfer through to the magnificent Kruger park. Here we head through the greater Kruger and make our way through to the Nkambeni Safari Camp, where we will be staying.
After check in, relax and take in the sights and sounds of the African bushveld, before heading out on a sundowner game drive in search of the Big 5 and other wildlife species.
Kruger Open top Safari
After breakfast we head out into the Kruger for a full game drive with a ranger to explore the incredible bio-diversity and learn more about the indigenous species that make Africa such an amazing travel destination.
After the game drive we head to the second bush camp for some down time and the evening meal under the starry night sky
Explore the Panorama Route
Day nine affords an early morning game drive as an optional extra, before we depart along the breath taking Panorama route in Mpumalanga. We head along the scenic roads to stop along the way for views from the top of the Drakensberg escarpment across the plains of the low veldt.
We stop in at a few of the top sight-seeing destinations like the Bourkes lucks potholes and Gods Window before making our way to the Blyde river canyon resort.
The last night is spent around roaring fires, with a traditional African braai and drinks.
Transfer to Johannesberg
Day 10 we transfer through to Johannesburg arriving at around 4pm.
If you are travelling into South Africa from outside the SADC, then you will require entry visas for South Africa and Mozambique. Please check with you local immigration authority in advance.
It is advisable to check the vaccination status of Mozambique and South Africa prior to departure at a certified travel clinic.
The Kruger Park and Mozambique is a Malaria area and you are requested to also seek advice on anti-malarial tablets.
